Lilli Skelton's Love Story: From ‘Isolationship’ to “I Do”

A little bit about me...

Hi! I’m Lilli from Melbourne. My (now) hubby, Lucas, and I have been together for over five years, and we’ve been engaged for nearly half that time. We met during the COVID lockdowns and instantly formed what I like to call an ‘isolationship.’ When you know, you know! Together, we have a beautiful baby girl, Ava, who is truly the light of our lives.

Our approach to planning the wedding...

We approached wedding planning with a simple mindset: let the vendors work their magic and enjoy the process! I’ve been on maternity leave this past year, so I thought I could juggle both caring for Ava and planning the wedding. There was more to it than I expected, but I was lucky to have such incredibly talented vendors that I could trust. Having my amazing support network, including my bridesmaids and family, by my side made it all possible.

Looking back on the day, we’re so glad that we...

Turned our special day into a big celebration! We had a very large bridal party - five bridesmaids and eight groomsmen each of whom brought incredible energy. We kept formalities short to maximise the fun. From 6 am to midnight, the music was pumping, we were dancing, and the champagne was flowing. There was a constant smile on our faces all day long.

The most unexpected part of the day was...

How calm I was. I didn’t get stressed over the tiny details that didn’t go exactly as planned. Even though my little girl got sick all over her white dress on the way to the ceremony (definitely unexpected), we handled everything with ease. In the end, every detail came together perfectly, and every moment was pure joy.

When I look back on the day now, I feel...

Joyful and incredibly grateful. I got to marry the love of my life, surrounded by our favorite people. We now have beautiful memories and photos that we’ll cherish for the rest of our lives.

Word of advice to other brides...

My advice to new brides is to embrace your own timeline and vision - do it your way! For us, we wanted to start our family before the wedding, and having our little girl involved in both the getting-ready process and the ceremony made it even more meaningful. Don’t feel pressured to follow the latest trends, book the most expensive vendors, or host the largest guest list. It was so special to collaborate with friends and up-and-coming businesses who made me feel a part of the process. Together, we brought our vision to life. Above all, prioritise your happiness and make decisions that truly resonate with you and your partner.

My Homebodii moment was special because...

My Homebodii moment was truly unforgettable because it set the perfect tone for the day. My bridesmaids and I wore the stunning Sian cami set with matching Sian short robes, and we all felt absolutely amazing. Singing, dancing, and sharing that time with my best friends made it even more special. What’s not to love? It’s a memory we’ll cherish forever.
