Homebodii Bride of the Month: Jessica Cassidy

A little bit about me..

I'm one of four kids, so life has always been loud, full, and full of love. My two sisters Zoe and Keira and my best friends of twenty years Hannah and Kate were my bridesmaids. I work in advertising, love to travel, and Joel and I have spent the last three years renovating our little Dee Why house. Our Italian greyhound supervises and contributes nothing but rules our world.

Our approach to planning the wedding was…

Heavily spreadsheeted - I won't lie. I think I planned about five different weddings along the way, from an elopement in Europe to a Bali party fest. Eventually we landed on a hometown wedding, and it ended up being the most perfect decision. I grew up in Avalon, so Palm Beach has always been somewhere really special to me and my family - all the big celebrations, the milestone dinners, they all happened at Palm Beach restaurants. Getting married at Dunes felt almost inevitable.

Looking back, we’re so glad that we…

Hired a stylist. Heidi from The Romance took my vision and brought it to life in ways I never could have imagined on my own. The reality was so much better than the picture in my head.

The most unexpected part of the day was…

My parents secretly arranged for a trumpet player to join the band. We'd wanted one so badly but had let it go as the budget crept up. When Joel and I made our big entrance to Freed from Desire and I spotted the trumpeter, I was so shocked I think I actually yelled out at him "what are you doing here?!" Huge shoutout to the most incredible wedding band, Top Shelf Live.

When I look back now, I feel…

So sad it's over - but so grateful we went all in on the big wedding. We hired two houses in Clareville right on the water for our families and bridal party for the weekend. Night one was a catered rehearsal dinner by Rukus Catering, and then the recovery party - which was very much not conducive to recovering- was onboard Zephyr Resort with a DJ, we cruised around Pittwater and swam and danced all afternoon. Three full days of wedding love. We soaked up every second.

My advice to new brides is…

Do the recovery. Do all the events. It's over in the blink of an eye, so say yes to every moment you can.

My Homebodii moment was special because…

I wore the Helena Lace Robe and the Sian Slip. Getting ready in something that beautiful set the tone for the whole day.
