From Childhood Friends to Soulmates: Gracia Perta's Journey to "I Do"

A day filled with love, laughter, and the most beautiful memories, Petra’s wedding was a true reflection of her and her partner’s story. From heartfelt personal touches to timeless styling, every detail was chosen with intention. Now, she’s sharing a glimpse into the moments that made it all so unforgettable.

We knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together when we realised that no matter what life threw at us, we never gave up on each other and we’re each other’s biggest supporters. We’ve known each other since primary school. We’ve known each other for 19 years! We went to the same primary school, same high school and we really do feel like the universe brought us together.

Our approach to planning the wedding was to be intentional about every detail, making sure it truly reflected who we are as a couple and the love we have for each other and our family. We had hand written messages to all of our guests which we gave them on our wedding day which was just so special. We wanted a day that felt warm, joyful, and full of love and lots of dancing especially with our two different cultures coming together (Italian and Congolese).

Looking back on the day, we are so glad that we enjoyed our selves and had fun. We didn’t focus on what went wrong or the small details we just focused on us and what the day is all about. Marrying the love of our lives. The day goes by so quickly, and enjoying the little moments and not worrying about what could go wrong or went wrong really makes a big difference on how you look back on the day. It the one day that you don’t get back and you put so much time into we went with the “what will be will be” mentality.

The styling details that I loved were the elegant yet timeless touches like the soft draping, candlelit tables, and personal details like the handwritten notes we left for each guest. Our stylist Dom from Table and Delights understood exactly what we wanted and the vision we had for the day. I love lace so much! I wanted my dress and everything else that I had needed a touch of lace which is one of the other reasons I loved the Homebodii gowns for my wedding outfit! There’s something beautiful and traditional about it. For our photos we wanted something that was timeless and about editorial which our photographer Isabella from studio Beloved delivered perfectly!

The most unexpected part of the day was how calm and at peace I felt. I thought it would be overwhelming, but I was just so happy to be marrying my best friend. Also how quickly the day went which is why you must enjoy every second. My inspiration for my hair and makeup was soft, romantic, and timeless, something that felt like the best version of myself. I loved loved Sophia Richie Grainge hair and Jasmine Tookes wedding hair which were also inspirations that I had saved for my big day.

When I look back on the day now, I feel incredibly grateful. It was everything we hoped for and more. A word of advice to new brides would be to focus on what truly matters, you and your partner. The little details are beautiful, but the love and joy you share are what make the day unforgettable. If you’re having fun your guests will too! Your wedding day is about you and your other half not about anyone else and that is easy said then done but it couldn’t so far from the truth!

My Homebodii moment was special because it was the perfect way to start the day, feeling comfortable, beautiful, and completely in the moment before all the excitement began. It was so important for my girls to also look as beautiful as they and this was just prefect. I loved how soft and detailed our outfits were. I am a big lover of lace so the lace outline the perfect finish.
